What to have…

Sara and Josh treated Ralph and I to a dazzling tour of the family run wine estates in Prince Edward County, just minutes from their home. Miles of family-run wineries from humble and sparse to massively over-stated, open to the public. Sara chose The Grange of Prince Edward as our picnic spot. “It’s so romantic”, she explained. “I love that we can do a wine tasting, decide which wine we want with lunch, grab a picnic then take it out near the grapevines.”

I love that she wants to be romantic with her parents.

Weathered picnic tables wait, in the pasture near acres of early summer grape vines, for gingham and treats from the garden and kitchen. Sara chose a rapturous lunch of pulled chicken sandwiches, poached baby potato salad with extra virgin olive oil and snipped chives, crunchy white coleslaw with caraway seeds , local strawberries and whipped cream and a buttery Chardonnay Select.
