A couple of weeks ago, my friend, David, invited me to dinner . After several delicious courses of salad and his famous pasta bolognese [ an old family recipe which I have yet to pry out of him ] he pulled out a beautiful apple torte. I knew that he had worked all day so, how was he serving me a ‘just out of the oven’ dessert? In his words, “there are 3 simple parts to this delicious dessert”! I was not convinced that this gorgeous dessert was simple…
I have been excited to share his recipe with you but, before I posted, I wanted to make sure that it was as quick and easy as he said. I whipped it together Saturday afternoon. He was telling the truth…
If you are anything like me, you tend to indulge in a lot of everything at Christmas time. Creamy soups, cheese with everything, roasted meat and fowl, holiday cocktails – it can get out of control! When David placed this lovely, warm, caramelized apple slice in front of me, rather than inwardly groaning that I would not have enough room to finish it, I was delighted. It is the perfect dessert for the holidays – delicious, quick and light!
I tested David’s recipe on Saturday, after a full day of preparing for dinner that evening. It took me less than 10 minutes to pop it in the oven. My kind of dessert…
