NYC

by Michelle

Twenty six years ago, I shopped in Manhattan at Christmas time while I impatiently awaited the arrival of my twin daughters. To be with them this past week, with my mom and daughter Sara shopping for Meaghan’s wedding gown was surreal and a dream come true – for all of us… love.

Four glorious action packed days filled with reminiscing, discovering, sharing and dreaming.

Macy's

I neglected to mention eating. You may find this hard to believe but we had a lot of Italian. Some days, we had it twice! We started at Otto, Mario Batali’s pizza place. It was crowded, super noisy, the food was crazy- reasonable priced and tasted fantastic. We had a ball!

Eggs Benedict Junior's style

The next morning we decided to start our first full NYC day with a breakfast at Junior’s

Mom and the girls

I’d been dying to try Carmine’s in Times Square, so that was night two. Family style huge platters for sharing. We needed a wheel barrow to get us back to the hotel.

the breads at Dean and Delucca

Monday was jammed with bridal gown shopping and a visit to my old haunt Dean and Delucca located just below Houston on Broadway in Soho. We decided to skip lunch that day and replace it with a trip to Ferrara’s Bakery in Little Italy.

Our day slipped away causing us to miss our dinner reservation at Babbo, another Batali joint. We took a chance on a suggestion from one of the receptionist at our hotel and tried Becco, Lidia Bastianich’s restaurant. I am now convinced that you just can’t have a bad meal in New York. It rocked!

my daughters in Soho

After four magical days and successfully finding the wedding gown of Meggie’s dreams we kissed each other good-bye.
